Consult Location Policies

Our Practice is located in Ellicott City, Maryland. We provide Tele Health Visits for families who live at great distances from needed IBCLC care.  Clients enrolled with TRICARE are seen, per TRICARE guidelines at our office setting only. We are in-network with aetnaFor aetna patients the first visit may be done at home depending on the plan coverage. And, also if it is at the distance range of 40 miles round trip. Follow-ups are always done at the office.

In-home consults are an option if the home is located within a geographic area surrounding our Ellicott City base.  This service is offered to clients who live within these locations:   Howard County, Montgomery County, Prince George County, Carrol County, Anne Arundel County, and also parts of Baltimore County.

A service fee for In-Home sessions will be calculated based upon your distance from our office. If your home is up to 20 miles from our base the service fee is $27. For locations 20-40 miles away we require a $40 service fee.

If you are more than 40 miles away we will need to discuss your specific location with you. If an in-home visit is scheduled in addition of the $40 fee, 0.57 cents per mile will be charged to cover the excess commuting time.

Mindfulness Lactation Care’s hours of operations are Monday to Friday  10AM – 4PM. Other days/times upon availability. Client emails and voicemails will be responded within 24 hours, during our normal business hours. Text messages are not allowed within healthcare settings,  per federal HIPAA guidelines.

Appointment and Financial Policies

Consent for Care and all pre visit forms must be completed before any visit occurs.

To ensure that time slots are held fairly and due to non show ups and late cancellations, deposits must be placed when you request an appointment by providing your credit card information. Balance will be collected via cash, check or credit card at the time of the visit. For  aetna patients, this fee will be refunded at the end of the consult.

We accept only aetna as in-network insurance for our services at the moment. We are an Authorized TRICARE Non-Network provider. We can see patients with TRICARE Standard, TRICARE Reserve Select, TRICARE Retired Reserve, TRICARE Young Adult-Standard Option or if enrolled in TRICARE Prime Remote and there are no network providers available in your remote location. For clients that are not in-network with aetna,  full payment is received at time of visit by money, check or credit card. The client will receive a receipt to send for insurance for reimbursement and instructions about it. We can make no guarantees about your specific insurance company’s behaviors, but except for a few rare grand-fathered plans they are mandated by the Affordable Care Act to cover lactation support visits.

You authorize us to keep your credit card information on file and bill for the full price of a breastfeeding class or consult in case aetna or Tricare charges a deductible, co-insurance and co-pay within 30 days of submission of your claim. In order to do this, we require your consent to charge your credit card upon registration. aetna and Tricare will send you an explanation of benefits (EOB) when your claim and payment have been processed.

As part of your consent for care, you acknowledge that you are financially responsible for any service or product not covered by your insurance such as co-payments, co-insurances and deductibles.

If you are currently enrolled for WIC benefits,  we are able upon request to offer a discount in our fees or if needed payment may be made in monthly installments.

Cancellation Policies

The consult or class may be postponed if inclement weather occurs or due to sickness. The group class may also be cancelled if less than 4 paid attendees are registered 24hrs before the event. The Lactation Consultant will let you know if any session needs to be cancelled or rescheduled.

An administration fee of $25.00 will be assessed if you give less than 24 hours notice to cancel any lactation support appointment.

If you cancel the appointment, less than 30 min to the scheduled time or did not show up there will be a fee of $95.00. In booking your appointment  you authorize the  collection of late cancellation and no-show fees from the credit card you provided for your appointment deposit.

If you want to cancel a class registration without penalty you must send an email to carolina@mindfulnesslactation.com at least 1 week before the start of class without charge. Any cancellations after that time will result in a full charge for the class.
